K-3rd Grade Coordinator

Job Overview
The Children’s K-3 Coordinator will be responsible for helping oversee the K-3 programming in Children’s ministry.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Schedule Small Group Leaders, Large Group Leaders, and other job roles as needed
  • Recruit volunteers and place them according to their spiritual gifts
  • Assist the Children's Ministry (CM) Director in leading the weekly ministry planning meeting for leaders and volunteers
  • Attend weekly CM staff meetin, MSC staff devotional, and other meetings as assigned
  • Help motivate, mentor, and encourage ministry leaders
  • Lead the VIP time 30 minutes prior to each service on the weekend; be present and available to troubleshoot, encourage, and cheerlead during ministry hours
  • Work with CM Director to equip, train, and facilitate meetings with K-3 teams
  • Communicate with families and teams on a regular basis
  • Review curriculum and gather supplies needed for Large and Small Group,  or work with current team to communicate what supplies are needed to do ministry from week to week
  • Help with planning and implementation of Children’s Ministry events, including Vacation Bible School, Children’s Camp, Eggstravaganza, and other "bridge events."

Childcare Coordinator

Job Overview
The Childcare Coordinator for Morning Star Church will be responsible to oversee and implement the childcare portion of children's ministry.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Schedule and supervise childcare workers in providing care and supervision for children.
  • Organize and implement activities for children during the childcare.
  • Maintain hours of all workers and report them to payroll two times per month.
  • Make sure Safe Sanctuary procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Coordinate with staff and ministry leaders to ensure that appropriate childcare is available for church activities.
  • Recruit and train caregivers.
  • Meet weekly with Children’s Ministry leadership and staff.
  • Attend the quarterly Staff Day Apart.

Interactive Media and Graphic Design Specialist

Job Overview
This position is responsible for providing graphic design and interactive media support to the communication strategies of Morning Star Church. 

Duties include:

  • Assists with the design, function, and maintenance of the church website(s).
  • Develops and implements additional electronic media marketing strategies (social networking sites, widgets, Twitter, and so on).
  • Collaborates with the Director of Communications to develop artwork/layouts for newsletters, brochures, bulletins, and direct mail pieces, as well as business publications such as annual reports and handbooks.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Worship Arts to develop message-related artwork for electronic and print applications.
  • Develops all campus signage, such as lobby displays and road-sign banners.
  • Coordinates with print houses and mailing services when necessary.
  • Collaborates with Media Director to produce announcement slides.
  • Participates in relevant team meetings, including staff devotions.
  • Assists Director of Communications in daily functions of the department.
  • Other duties that may be assigned by your supervisor.
  • Regularly attend worship services.

Skills and Talents

  • General understanding of Content Management System-based websites
  • Understanding of design best practices
  • Knowledge of social media and word-of-mouth marketing strategies
  • Expert knowledge of graphic design and layout software, such as Quark or Adobe Creative Suite products

Education / Experience
College degree in graphic design or equivalent graphic design education experience.

Associate Director of Music

The Associate Director of Music will demonstrate a strong commitment to Jesus Christ while assisting the Worship Arts Director in developing and implementing a music ministry to enhance the worship of God at Morning Star Church.

The Associate Music Director will provide leadership in creating a culture that encourages musicians and artists to develop their talents to glorify God through participation in all forms of worship celebration.  He/She will also possess a developed knowledge of music literature and the ability to perform the music. Team-building, coaching, development, leadership and self-starter skills are required qualifications.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Lead the Sound Ministry

  • Oversee operator scheduling; service recording and burning of CD’s, uploading of .mp3’s, etc.; purchasing; maintenance; setup/teardown of stage as needed for weekly rehearsals, services and ancillary events
  • Train incoming volunteers
  • Align with mission/vision of the Music Ministry
  • Substitute for operators as needed

Assist with Administrative Music Ministry tasks

  • Produce (or oversee production of) weekend service song slides (verify song titles and structures, copy or create slides accordingly, assign appropriate media backgrounds)
  • Conduct CCLI reports when required (currently 6 month reporting period every 3 years)
  • Create chord charts of worship songs and/or special music selections as necessary
  • Transcribe additional music elements (strings, etc.) as necessary
  • Create audio programming, loops, click-tracks, etc. as necessary
  • Assist with scheduling
  • Assist and/or oversee audition process for potential new volunteers
  • Assist with web-based administration of music ministry (uploading schedules, setlists, charts, etc. to website; purchasing and distributing audio recordings)

Fulfill necessary tasks in the absence of the Director of Music

  • Music selection, song order, etc.
  • Leading vocal & instrumental rehearsals as necessary
  • Leading worship as necessary

Skills and Talents

  • Proficient knowledge of music and music theory
  • Proficient instrumentalist and vocalist
  • Proficient knowledge of audio signal flow and sound reinforcement
  • Proficient with the following software packages: Finale® or similar music engraving software; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Easy Worship® or similar lyric display software; ProTools® or similar audio recording and editing software
  • Proficient in leading a band rehearsal (Keen ear for music—“director’s ear," ability to recognize and adapt to group dynamics, ability to lead and motivate)

Experience

  • Experience in leading worship services required.
  • Previous professional experience in a similar role preferred.
